Chapter Four

THIRD PERSON POV

Leonid step into the diner along with Vadim their presence commanding the whole room.

The diner wasn't pack. Just few customers basking in the warmth and comfort of the atmosphere. But as soon as the Mikhailovich brothers entered inside, the temperature in the room dropped. Drastically.

Their cold eyes scanned the room searching for their target.

Leonid stepped in front of the receptionist. His voice deadly but calm almost made the her fall over. "Where's the owner"

The poor lady had to steady her erratic heartbeat before she could speak. "I..He.." She swallowed. The words seemed to be stuck in her throat. Leonid looked at his watch raising a brow showing her he did not have time to waste. She released a shaky breath pointing to a doorway on her left. "His right inside give me a second let me get him for you"

"No need" He brushed past her. When inside he caught sight of a short man. Dressed in a suit that looked like it didn't belong on his body. Hair gelled back to cover the bald spot in the middle of his head.

George the owner of the diner knew a man in authority when he saw one and Leonid looked the part too well. What he didn't know was that he was standing in front of the top Dog.

Before he speak up Vadim also entered. Eyes digging into his soul. George eyes widen in recognition. His hand worked to loosen his tie. The air feeling too dangerous to breath in, from the sheer presence of the Mikhailovich brothers.

Vadim immediately recognized the short man. George Meyers was one of their drug dealer. He never liked the man but business was business no time for like or dislike as far as the cards are in your favor that's all that matters.

He cleared his throat in hopes of shaking off the fear he felt. "It's a pleasure to met you again Mr Mikhailovich"

Leonid completely ignoring his stretched out hand. Made himself comfortable on his chair. Vadim followed mimicking his brother's actions.

Pink hue creeped on George cheeks from the blatant embrassment. Clearing his throat once again. "Am so gladden having you here with me Mr Mikhailovich. How may i be of help to you"

"You know someone am looking for" Leonid says

"A girl to be precise. 5'2. Blonde hair. Heterochromic." Vadim added.

"Oh i think you're talking about Ellie"

Leonid hated the way he said the name like they were some kind of best buddies. It grated on his last nerves.

"she's quite the beauty isn't she. So petite and soft" George laughed too foolish to see that he was digging his own grave. "I didn't know you where into such. I can always get her for you. But to be honest she's always turn me down whenever i offer money but am sure she won't be able to say no to the likes of you. Not if she loves her life. I cou..." George choked on his words when he saw the dark look the brothers gave him.

George took a step back. Sweat running down his body like a broken tap. Vadim stood up, slow and lethal. His once neutral expression. Now filled with calm rage. So calm that when it breaks out it completely destroys anything and everything thing in it's path.

"That was quite a lovely speech you gave there George I'd love to stay and hear more but I've got more important things on ground. So be a darling and tell me which route she took home"

"Sh..she a.. always t..t..takes the route close to the alley beside the diner. It's the shortest cut back home and she also stops to talk to her dog everytime" He sputtered.

"You seem to know an awful lot about her" Leonid now standing close to him gave George a leveling look.

Exchanging a glance they both walked towards the door. George let out a silent sigh of relief thinking he was out of the clear. If only he knew.

"Vlad" Leonid called out. A man slipped out of the dark like a shadow.

"I want you to take Mr George to warehouse 52. Make sure to give him the special treatment. The one only reserved for 'special' guest"

"Da don" He bowed already moving to work.

Following the direction George gave them. They weave their way into the streets easily blending in, with the darkness.

A swift movement from the right caught Leonid's attention. The attacker moved with speed but Leonid saw it coming. He quickly shot the shadow on the shoulder and the leg.

The figure drop to the ground with a groan.

"Who sent you" Vadim kicked him to roll over. Pointing the gun in his face he asked again.

A gunshot went off just a few feet in front of them. That was all the distraction the captive needed. He immediately slip a tiny white pill into his mouth before the brothers could react it was already too late. The man broke into a seizure. White foam coming out of hs mouth.

Vadim kicked the now dead body. A tattoo peeking out of the man's shirt collar.

"The Greeks" Vadim commented. Eyes zeroed on the tattoo.

"Let's get moving his of no use to us right now" replied Leonid.

There wasn't a single soul in sight when the brothers came to the street where the gunshot sounded from. Trails of blood stained the sidewalk.

"Someone was here" said Leonid.

"And also got stabbed" Vadim picked up a bloody dagger.

"What's that?" Leonid questioned his eyes squinting to see the unmoving body on the ground. The constantly blinking streetlight was of no help.

Vadim walked cautiously towards the lump on the ground. He crouched down and turn on his flashlight. "It's a puppy" He hand moved checking it's pulse. "It's got a heartbeat, but very faint"

"Just leave it there. It's gonna die anyways. Cause there's no way we're gonna get to the hospital in time for it to get proper treatment. Besides we looking for our sister, there's no time to waste, it's better off dead."

"Nope, am sorry Leo but that's not going to happen on my watch" Vadim argued.

"Didn't you hear what i said we have to find our sister aren't you worried. And last i check you were a medical doctor not a vet"

"Well it's kinda almost the same thing. You don't expect me to leave a helpless dog out here to die when i can do something to save it's life"

"Yes Vadim i expect you to do so. It's just a dog not a human being" Leonid fired, his patience running thin.

"It's a living creature that's more than enough reason to save it's life. So please stop trying to change my mind cause it's not gonna work. I've got my medical kit in the car, so I'll patch it up and take it home"

"I hope you're not planning on bringing that thing into my house"

"Where else did you think i was gonna take it to?"

"I don't know a dog pound or something. Best advice....just let it die"

"Are you hearing yourself right now Leo?"

Leonid gave a flat look. "Loud and clear. Thank you very much"

"It's also my house as much as it is yours. So i also have a say on who and what gets to stay in it.
